About Lipstick Vogue

Lipstick Vogue is the dream of fashion designer, Kaela Webb.  As a young girl she always loved Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday which led her to a full blown vintage lifestyle obsession.Kaela Webb

A starry-eyed admiration for her grandmother, Vivian VanVacter, kick-started Kaela's sense of glamor and style.  Vivian may have come from a modest beginnings, but was every bit the Hollywood starlet in her demeanor and endless charm.  "This," Kaela thought, "is what it means to be a woman."

In high school she sported some crazy fashions, eventually ending up with 1950's dresses and first attempts at vintage hairstyles.  A senior project got her into sewing and it was love ever since.

She took her love of sewing and vintage things and began making her own wardrobe.  Starting out with even simple patterns, she had her own ideas about how to make things more flattering and practical.  By her second dress was already altering patterns to suit her creativity.

By the time Kaela was set on wearing vintage and vintage inspired designs on a daily basis, she was getting noticed by a lot of people.  Fashionable girls would come up to her and ask, "goodness, where did you get that dress?"  It was only a couple years before she was on her way to the answer: Lipstick Vogue.

With a notebook full of designs, she scoured the local talents in the fashion industry to begin her line.  Frustrated by the lack of quality control in pattern making and garment construction, Kaela decided to take it all on herself.  She taught herself more detailed pattern making and took on only one or two seamstresses at a time to ensure that they could produce her clothing up to her own standards.  After some hard lessons and many unsuitable samples, the line Lipstick Vogue pulled through.

Now Lipstick Vogue has the best quality in vintage inspired and vintage reproduction dresses out there.  Kaela's obsession with period-correct fabrics has shown through in the line most distinctively.  Lipstick Vogue dresses usually feature reproduction or vintage inspired prints in materials that you would find common in 1930's, 1940's, and 1950's clothing.

Lipstick Vogue designs are true to the Golden Era of Fashion: the time when fashion was at it's peak of fine quality, luxurious fabrics, and was when a garment was a stately thing that expressed a person when words and social factors may have been limiting.  This was a time when use of fabric could be considered wrecklessly unpatriotic, or when a smart accessory could have the neighborhood talking.  The Golden Era of Fashion is when fashion was epic.

Kaela, always the entrepreneur, is interested in hearing from you about any potential business opportunity, haute-coture design, or even putting on an event.  So don't be shy now.
